My Doodle Puppies Waitlist Process

At My Doodle Puppy, we have a unique waitlist process designed to ensure that our puppies go to safe and responsible homes. Here’s a detailed guide to help you understand how our waitlist works and why it’s beneficial for both you and our puppies.

What Makes a Good Breeder?

A good breeder prioritizes the safety and well-being of their puppies. Here are key points to identify a good breeder:

  • They get to know the buyers before selling a puppy.

  • Puppies are not taken home until they are at least 8 weeks old and fully weaned.

  • Open communication with the breeder is encouraged, both in person and on the phone.

  • A constant availability of puppies could indicate improper breeding practices such as operating a puppy mill

Why Have A Waiting List?

  • Ensures Responsible Ownership: Helps breeders vet potential owners through an application process.

  • Predictable Schedule: Provides a rough timeline for when puppies will be available.

Step 1: Application and Deposit

  • Applying You will answer questions about your environment and history with dogs. applying also helps us understand what you’re looking for and ensures you’ll be a good owner.

  • Deposit: After completing the application, place a deposit (usually $300). This confirms your commitment and is refunded as it is subtracted from the total puppy price.

Step 2: Master List

  • Placement: After the application and deposit, you’re added to a master list with others interested in puppies.

  • Flexibility: The master list can be long, but many people wait for specific preferences before they move on to a litter list, so it doesn’t necessarily mean a long wait.

Step 3: Litter Lists

  • Notification: When a litter is born, everyone on the master list receives an email with details about the puppies.

  • Application: Decide if you want to apply for that litter based on your preferences. If you do apply you can apply through the link sent in the email or you can apply through the breeders website

  • Order: Your position on the litter list is based on your seniority on the master list.

Step Three: Six Week Wait

  • Aptitude Tests: Puppies undergo tests during the six weeks before “puppy pick day.” These aptitude tests give you information that helps you find your perfect puppy.

  • Transfer Option: If you decide against a litter, you can return to the master list for free before “puppy pick day”

  • Transfer Fee: If you realize you don’t like the dog you picked or you want to pick from a different litter and realize it after puppy pick day you will have to pay a $300 transfer fee in order to go back to the master list.

  • Drop outs: Keep an eye out for drop outs during that six week wait. If someone drops out you can apply for that spot through the website

Step 4: Puppy Pick Day

  • Reminder: You’ll receive a reminder email the day before “puppy pick day” with a reservation form to confirm your puppy.

  • Selection: Starting at 10:00 AM, the first person on the list has 15 minutes to pick their puppy. Others follow in order.

  • Backup Choices: Have backup choices in case your preferred puppy is taken.

  • Reservation Form: If you can’t pick during your scheduled time, fill out the form the day before. If you are lower on the list be sure to list your top choices in case someone above you picks your preferred puppy

  • Back outs: It's recommended that particular or choosy buyers pick their puppy during their scheduled time on Puppy Pick Day. This way, if your preferred puppy gets chosen by someone else, you can decide to back out before it's too late.
